Happy Super Bowl Sunday to those who celebrate. At the risk of sounding cliché, I’m in it for the ads, the halftime performance, the Taylor Swift sightings, and the wings, 7-layer dip, and various other junk food that will be served at the watch party I’m going to later today. My preferred sport, of course, is shopping (how about that for a transition?!) and lately I’ve been flexing my muscles. And by my muscles, I mean my index finger, which does all the scrolling and clicking. (Maybe this is why I was always picked last in P.E. class.) Anyway, after my No-buy January—which was more like a low-buy January if I’m being honest—I have a pretty strong case of the shoppies. Here’s what’s waiting in all of my various shopping bags.
Old Navy leopard-print mini dress $30.99 (on sale)
I got served an ad for this dress on IG and way to dial in that targeting, Meta, because I immediately clicked through and added it to my bag. It’s giving Ganni (who does the best leopard print, in my opinion), and it’s 100% cotton, which is more than I’d expect from Old Navy at this price. And while I really don’t have anywhere to wear this dress right now, maybe the occasion will present itself if I order it? PSA: there’s also a shirtdress version if you prefer a more streamlined look.
Dior Addict lipstick case $50
My friend hosts a white elephant lipstick party around the holidays and yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds. The first lipstick to get knocked out of contention (e.g. it was stolen three times, one of which was from me, wah wah) was this case plus a Dior Addict refill. In spite of not being a Dior girlie, I’ve been thinking about it ever since. Then again, with JW Anderson (one of my favorite designers, who recently left Loewe) reportedly going to Dior soon, maybe I will be.
Alex Mill Chelsea turtleneck sweater $122.50 (on sale)
When scrolling for inspo recently, I immediately screen-shotted the 2nd outfit on Lisa Corbo’s IG carousel and set about re-creating it. While I have a brown sweater that would in theory work, I don’t have a brown turtleneck. Hers looks incredibly thick and luxe (probably cashmere) but since we’re moving into spring, this feels like a more practical choice. Plus I’ve been wanting to try something from Alex Mill for awhile—I think this is my chance.
On Cloudflyer 4 sneakers $100 (on sale)
You know when you hear about something, then start seeing it everywhere? Swiss sneaker brand On did a collab with Loewe (again, I love me some JW Anderson) and now I feel like I’ve spotted their shoes in every cool sneaker store I’ve been to recently. I know, they’re super weird-looking, but they’re really lightweight and reportedly ultra-cushy. And these are at least not $550. The last thing I need is another pair of sneakers…and yet they’re living rent-free in my head.
Everlane Laid-Back Sweatpant $98
This seems like a ridiculous amount of money to pay for sweatpants, but if you’re a WFH-er, it could be money well spent. The barrel-like shape of the legs is just so cool-looking; you could maybe even get away with wearing them out in public with a blazer, à la early Alexander Wang (remember his model-off duty look from the late aughts?). Bonus points to Everlane for the Scandi-inspired styling here with fancy flip-flops.
Quick PSA: I’m on ShopMy
I have joined ShopMy, the Cool Girl affiliate program, and you can now shop this post (plus a bunch of other collections like Things I finished) in my storefront. Word on the street is that this platform is a lot less annoying than LTK (e.g. it’s not a social network) and more supportive of smaller creators like me. As with LTK, I earn a small commission at no cost to you when you buy something from one of my links, and as always, I appreciate your support!
This week on the blog
Do not adjust your screen—I am indeed wearing a statement necklace AND a peplum top like it’s 2012…but with wide-leg pants instead of skinny jeans because I’ve evolved. (Although can’t you just picture this with red skinny jeans? Remember when we had all the colored pants? Ay yi yi.) This plus two more vaguely Valentine’s Day–ish outfits are waiting for you on the blog.
I love all your outfits. Nice to see items on you that I could never wear! lol. No wide leg pants here, with my wide hips. I love the red tights with the black. so cute. And that coat is really great. I saw the price and almost fainted! I'm going to look up the heart necklace right now!
