I still post to Cheryl Shops once a week, but this is a more casual, less polished place for me to share recent outfits, products I finished, things I’m obsessed with, and more personal, off-the-cuff thoughts. Who is Cheryl?
That’s me. I’ve been blogging since 2003(!) with a small but loyal following. I used to post mostly about sample sales, designer collaborations, and Fashion Week in NYC, where I lived until 2013. After a bit of a break—and by “break,” I mean I completely blew up my life and moved to San Francisco—I started blogging again in 2017. On current-day Cheryl Shops, I tend to share a mix of product reviews, outfit inspo, shopping guides, and the occasional travel diary. Most of the photography is shot by my amazing partner, Sean.
By day, I head up the editorial department at an online retailer. I’ve been in the retail industry for 20 years, and I can’t imagine working anywhere else. I pretty much live, breathe, and eat shopping—and I love to pass along my insider info to you.
When I’m not shopping, you can find me sharing a delicious meal with friends, taking a day trip to wine country, reading literary fiction or the occasional page-turning thriller, taking barre and pilates classes religiously (fun fact: I’m a former dancer), and traveling whenever I get the chance. I still live in San Francisco, and I love it.
Why should I subscribe?
Because Substack is “the good Internet.” Because you’re supporting independent writers. Because there are a million other people out there telling you what to buy, but I’m different! (Kidding! Sort of.)
I have Dom Perignon taste and a middle-shelf sauvignon blanc budget. I love a good sale. I hate paying full-price for anything. I am very choosy about how I spend my money and want to share my wisdom with you. I (hopefully) do it in a friendly, unpretentious, nonjudgmental way.
