I generally believe that you get what you pay for, and that you should always buy the best quality you can afford, especially when it comes to clothing and accessories. That said, there are some items that are just not worth it to me for whatever reason—they wear out easily, no one sees them, I am indifferent toward them, etc. So in this month’s paid-subscriber–only newsletter, I’m sharing the things I always buy cheap, the things I always splurge on, and, of course, my favorite products for each.

Anything white, especially T-shirts
I love how clean and crisp anything white can feel, but one of my top shopping rules is Know Thyself, and while I may look polished and pulled together on social media (thanks, Sean!), I can assure you I am messy IRL. I sweat, I spill, I stain things with sunscreen or lipstick. I’ve tried everything to keep my whites ultra-white—vinegar, OxyClean, bleach, prayers—but they eventually get grungy and yellow, at which point I thank them for their service and turn them into rags. Paying a lot for anything white is just not worth it to me.
