7 days of real spring outfits
Dressing for when it's 55 degrees one day, 80 the next.
Ed. note: most of the items featured here can be found in the recent acquisitions and/or heavy rotation sections of my ShopMy storefront, updated on a regular basis.
Last week, my selfie mirror fell from the wall in my office and scared the living daylights out of me. Miraculously, the glass did not shatter. Even more miraculously, we shouldn’t have been hanging it in the first place—it’s technically a floor mirror and the frame is engineered wood—so I’m amazed it survived as long as it did. Nevertheless, it’s now a leaning mirror, and I’m still adjusting to the angle, so please excuse my puzzled expressions in the following photographs. Then again, I might just be perplexed by the spring weather, which has been particularly mercurial this year (then again, when is it not?).
Sunday funday
A sweatshirt and midi skirt is one of my all-time favorite combinations. It’s casual enough for the weekend (which this happened to be), but you can get away with wearing it to work too—although to be fair, I’ve never worn this particular skirt to the office on account of the thigh-high slits.

New favorite pants
I will admit, I did not get the Jamie Haller hype—most of it seems pretty…classic?—until I was influenced to buy these pants by someone on this platform. (I would cite my source but can’t know for sure because all of their older content is now behind a paywall.) Words cannot describe how much I love these pants. For something that looks almost too cool for me to pull off, they are ridiculously soft and comfortable. I wear them every opportunity I can get.

Marrakesh throwback
You may remember this outfit from my vacation roundup on the blog; if not, it was one of my favorite outfits worn on one of my favorite days of the trip. And it felt like the perfect thing to wear on a warm spring day when I had to go into the office.

Jury duty
For the first time in 13 years, I got called in for jury duty (and as of this writing, am still not off the hook). I tried to look as inconspicuous as possible but on second thought, my purple Dries sneakers probably weren’t helping in that department.

Fool’s spring
I was happy to be working from home on a day when it hit 80 degrees, because I got to break out these fun toile shorts, which I was influenced to buy by Erika at Long Live (that one I remembered!). I promise, I was more excited IRL than I appear in this photo, which is important because…

Back to actual spring
I don’t subscribe to the no-white-before-Memorial-Day policy (fun fact: it’s something department stores made up!) so I wear white jeans year round. They go a long way in brightening up a look, especially when you want to be wearing something lighter than the weather dictates. P.S. when it comes to white jeans, I tend to go cheap because they don’t last long.

Memorial Day weekend
There’s nothing like kicking off the unofficial start of summer…in a turtleneck and jeans. But then again, that’s life in the Bay Area. Here’s hoping the weather is more cooperative this weekend.

This week on the blog
My monthlong shopping ban is coming to an end, which means I’m loading up my shopping bags with all the late-spring/early summer trends. This year’s trend report is a tighter edit than usual, but with affordable options for each because many of us are on tight budgets this season. Enjoy!
