10 really good things at J.Crew
And most of them are on major sale.

Until a month ago, I hadn’t set foot in a J.Crew store in a long time. I had been a big fan during the Jenna Lyons years—and still have several pieces from that era that I wear on the regular—but the brand had seemed to struggle to find its footing since then, and it just kind of fell off my radar. Leave it to a trip to a posh suburban mall with my mom to turn my thinking around; I was super impressed with what I saw and ended up taking home a nice dupe of a slip skirt. While J.Crew’s aesthetic has evolved, their sale racks thankfully still yield pretty good deals—as I’m writing this, all of their sale items are an extra 50% off, although note that many are final sale. Here’s what caught my eye recently at J.Crew.
Cabana Dress in Linen $84.99 + extra 50% off

I am doing a no-buy month, but J.Crew sent me a birthday email (my birthday is actually in March, but I space them out with different retailers so I don’t get all my discounts in one month). This dress had been sitting in my cart for awhile, and it was an extra 50% off sale, so it was almost free. It looks kind of like a nightgown, but it’s comfy AF and feels somewhat glamorous for a summer basic. I am tempted to get it in black as well. It runs rather large—I’m in a small here and probably could have gone with an XS.
Stratus embellished short $149.99 + extra 50% off
I saw these shorts in person last month and they stopped me in my tracks. They seem somewhat impractical, but the block print plus the sequin embellishments gives them the air of something a rich woman pretending to be bohemian would wear as she yacht-hops around the Mediterranean. There’s also a matching T-shirt, if you want to commit to a full set.
Open pointelle-stitch cardigan $199.99 + extra 50% off
I know, it’s almost fall and you need transitional pieces, not more shorts and tank tops. Enter this sweater, which is light and airy enough to wear now (I’d pair it with the shorts above) but substantial enough to go a few more months layered up. I am incredibly sad it’s sold out in my size at the moment, but fingers crossed for a restock.
Collection pleated circle skirt $248
This skirt looks like Prada and comes in two colors that are both so good, I can’t decide which is my favorite. J.Crew tends to push its Collection line to a more fashiony place, and I am here for it; the prices hover a bit higher, but again, you can always wait for a sale.
Berkeley bucket bag in leopard $248
Like every savvy retailer, J.Crew is heavily duping The Row, and this bucket bag is a dead ringer for their Park tote. It also comes in suede, but I am partial to the leopard-print haircalf (the side that rests against your body is wisely made in solid leather), which is an incredible value even at full price.
Cosmo pant in luster charmeuse $158
Speaking of The Row dupes, this is an even better one for the Gala pant than the Stratus pant I featured a few months ago on the blog. As a bonus, they’re machine washable(!) and have pockets(!!). I know a neutral would be most practical, but I’m kind of gravitating toward the hot pink.
Cropped Stratus pant in block print $42.99 + extra 50% off
But first, back to the Stratus pant, which comes in a bunch of different fabrics and patterns, including two excellent block prints (I might love the yellow print even more, but it’s mostly out of stock). How chic would you look wearing these while working from home? (Answer: SO chic!) P.S. they also have a matching top.
Sweater tank with hand-embellished mirrors $69.99 + extra 50% off
Sorry not sorry, one last summer thing. I am not a tank top person (I don’t love my arms and it’s often too cold here for them anyway) but I could be for this one. The mirror embellishments remind me of Tory Burch’s spring collection, and I would totally wear the white version of this top with the block-print Stratus pants above.
Rec sneakers $75.99 + extra 50% off
I debated featuring a pair of sandals here since it’s the end of the season (although these Birkenstock-esque raffia ones are realllly cute) and decided to go with these low-profile sneakers instead, which also come in a great leopard print. They feel like a more grown-up Samba, and I’m here for it.
2025 Rollneck sweater $98
J.Crew is now considered a “heritage” brand and they’ve wisely brought back several of their most iconic pieces, including this updated version of the classic rollneck sweater. I owned several of these back in the early ‘90s and am kicking myself for not saving them, but I love this more modern, cropped version even more. May it live on!
This week on the blog
And the dupes keep coming, this week with a much more affordable (and on sale) take on the $450 red suede Toteme sandal that caught my eye in New York.
